How to get clients to rebook before they drift away

Most clients who stop coming did not decide to leave. Life got busy and nobody reminded them. The easiest repeat business is the client who is already due.

Book the next visit before they leave

The simplest rebooking tool is a question at checkout: would you like to book your next one? Booking the next visit while the client is still in front of you beats any follow-up message, because they are already convinced.

Suggest a time based on how often that service usually needs repeating, such as the typical interval for a color touch-up, a recurring treatment, or a regular groom.

Know when each client is due

Every service has a natural rhythm. Track when each client is due, not just when they last came in. A client who is two weeks overdue is much easier to bring back than one who has been gone for a year.

Send a friendly nudge at the right time

  • Message when they are due, or just before, so it feels helpful and not pushy.
  • Keep it short and personal, and include a way to book in one step.
  • Mention something specific, such as their usual service or stylist.
  • Send one follow-up if there is no reply, then stop. Repeated messages turn a nudge into pressure.

Offer standing appointments

For regulars, a standing appointment every few weeks removes the decision entirely. It also makes your schedule more predictable, which helps with staffing and planning.

Look at the slow days

If some days of the week stay quiet, offer those slots first when you nudge clients. A rebooking message that points to a specific open time is easier to say yes to than a general invitation.

Where automation fits

Working out who is due and drafting the nudge is tedious to do by hand every week. It is a good job for automation as long as you approve the message. Ascension builds rebooking nudges from your booking data and waits for your approval before anything reaches a client.
